CKE Restaurants, Inc. is the parent company of the Carl’s Jr., Hardee’s, Green Burrito, and Red Burrito restaurant chains. Its headquarters are in Carpinteria, California. It was incorporated in 1964 by Carl’s Jr. founder Carl Karcher as Carl Karcher Enterprises, Inc.

In 2007, it sold La Salsa fresh mex restaurants.[1] From 1996 to 1999, the company also owned the Rally’s drive-up hamburger chain, and it owned Taco Bueno from 1996 until 2001. The company acquired Hardee’s in 1997 from Charlotte, NC based Compass Group US.

The current CEO is Andrew Puzder, who has served as CKE CEO since September 2000. On February 26, 2010, THL Partners agreed to acquire CKE Restaurants Inc. Ultimately CKE accepted a $693.9 million takeover offer from Apollo Management, ending the earlier takeover agreement with THL Partners.

Carl’s Jr. is an American fast-food restaurant chain located in the Western and Southwestern United States. It is also in the process of expanding into Canada, Mexico, Singapore, Russia, Vietnam, and China. It was founded in 1941 by Carl N. Karcher, and is owned by CKE Restaurants, Inc. Combined with its sibling restaurant chain Hardee’s, Carl’s Jr. is the #4 US fast food burger chain in size after McDonald’s (31,000+ locations), Burger King (11,500+ locations) and Wendy’s (6,700+ locations).
