Anurag Kashyap and Kalki Koechlin

Anurag Singh Kashyap (born 10 September 1972) is an Indian film director and screenwriter. As a director, he is known for Black Friday (2004), a controversial and award-winning Hindi film about the 1993 Bombay bombings, followed by No Smoking (2007), Dev D and Gulaal (2009). On 30 April 2011, Anurag Kashyap got married to Kalki Koechlin at Kalki’s maternal home in Ooty. Kalki Koechlin (born 9 January 1983) is an Indian film actress of French descent who debuted in Anurag Kashyap’s critically acclaimed 2009 Hindi film Dev D.

Anurag was earlier married to Aarti — his college sweetheart whom he dated for nine years before getting married. As a screenwriter, he wrote the scripts for the Filmfare Award-winning Satya (1998) and the Academy Award-nominated Canadian film Water (2005). Anurag and Kalki first met during the making of Dev D. Both Anurag and Kalki collaborated on making of the movie, Shaitan. Kalki played the character of Chandramukhi in Dev.D, which is a modern take on Sarat Chandra’s Devdas.
