NDTV India is an acronym for the original name of the company “New Delhi Television”. NDTV India is an Indian commercial broadcasting television News Channel founded in 1988. It was founded by Mr.Prannoy Roy, an eminent journalist and current chairman and director of NDTV India Group. Currently,NDTV India has more than 1000 employees producing news from over twenty locations in India.
On 30 July, 2011, Mr.Vikram A Chandra was elevated to the position of group CEO replacing KVL Narayan Rao who is now Executive Vice Chairman of the NDTV company. NDTV is amongst India’s top broadcasters. It has twenty-three offices and studios across the country. Its three national news channels NDTV India 24 Hour/week, NDTV India ‘Hindi’ and NDTV India Profit ‘Business news’ form the core of the company. Each year the channel also gives the NDTV India, “Indian of the year” awards.
Noted journalist Vinod Dua has been associated with this channel. In 1988, NDTV’s producers produced a news and current affairs show ‘The World This Week’ for Doordarshan. The show proved to be immensely popular and NDTV established its image as a credible private news producer.
