Kushal Pal Singh or K.P. Singh (born August 15, 1931), is a real estate mogul and the chairman and CEO of DLF Limited, India’s largest real estate developer. It has an estimated land bank of 10,255 acres with about 3,000 acres being in Gurgaon called DLF City.
Kushal Pal Singh chairs DLF, India’s most valuable real estate company, run by his son Rajiv who is vice-chairman. Stock has fallen 30% in past year, mainly on concerns over mounting debt estimated at $3.8 billion. Merged DLF Assets, family’s private arm, into a DLF subsidiary. Ditched plan to build a mall in Mumbai replacing it with a luxury residential project. Also building luxury holiday villas, branded Sama, at tourist hotspots. Denies reports that it wants to sell holding in hotel chain Aman Resorts. DLF Pramerica is its insurance joint venture with Prudential. Patriarch’s granddaughters, Savitri and Anushka, both Wharton grads, have joined DLF.
KP Singh made Gurgaon a world-famous outsourcing destination within 10 years, because of his world-class earthquake-proof office buildings, apartments, shopping malls and leisure facilities (including the DLF Gary Player designed Golf Course).
