St. Xavier’s College is a Catholic institution, which strives to form men and women, especially Christians and the marginalised, to build a more just and humane world.After the establishment and success of St Xavier’s High School in Ahmedabad, and of St Xavier’s College in Bombay , the Gujarat Jesuits wished to foray into university education.
The goal of the College is to provide students with an environment for the all-round development of their mental, physical, aesthetic, social, and spiritual potentials, together with the attitudes of integrity, hard-work, honesty, fairness and tolerance, so that they give of their very best. Excellence in these fields is to be interpreted in terms of putting the skills developed in each at the service of the socially discriminated groups in our country with a view to setting up a society where all have equal opportunity as children of God.
The College is considered as a center of excellence for studies in India.It has a number of Departments like Economics, English, Gujarati, Pschycology, Sanskrit, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Sciences, Mathematics, Physics and Statistics.
