St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, often referred to as SJCC, is a Bangalore University-affiliated college operated by the Jesuits.It is a college of 128 years imparting graduate, post-graduation and research education.While it takes pride in traditions,it keeps on searching, renewing and expanding, attempting to be ever relevant to the changing situations of the times. That is why it enjoys a place of eminence among educational institutions in the country.The college is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.
The college traces its history to 1882, when the Missions Etrangeres’ de Paris established St Joseph’s European High School. Its operations were handed to the Jesuits in 1937 and the Department of Commerce created in 1949. In 1972, St. Joseph’s College was divided, with its College of Arts and Sciences and its College of Commerce becoming independent, although both remain under the administration of the Bangalore Jesuit Educational Society.It has an enrollment of about 300, mostly men. The students are popularly known as Josephites and a common saying “Josephites are dynamites” holds true.
St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, Bangalore offers a number of courses including Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Bachelor of Business Management (BBM), Masters in Commerce (M.Com), Masters in International Business.The school’s official motto is :
