INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TEHCNOLOGY (IIT) BHUBANESWAR
The Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar is the third and one of the largest of six new Indian Institutes of Technology established by the MHRD, Government of India in 2008.The institute admits students into various B. Tech, M. Tech and Ph. D. programs. The classes for the current academic session are currently being held in Bhubaneswar city. The academic session begins in August each year.
Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) offer Science based engineering education at Undergraduate level (B.Tech), Postgraduate level (M.Tech), Doctoral level (Ph.D) and Research Programmes. IITs also offer five year integrated Masters and Doctoral level programmes in various Science disciplines. Masters and Doctoral level programmes in Humanities, Social Science and Management are also offered by IITs.
The permanent IIT campus is being set up in Argul, in the outskirts of Bhubaneswar. A total of 935 acres of land has been allocated towards the self contained campus for 10,000 students and 1,100 faculty. A science park is being set up as a part of this institution to support industry oriented research activities.IIT Bhubaneswar is the first IIT to set up a separate marine campus in 2011 for conducting interdisciplinary research in rising sea levels, ecology, disaster management, marine ecosystems, fishery development, and other areas.
